    The trauma surgeon is accountable to the Trauma Medical Director providing trauma and acute care surgery coverage consistent with the standards of the GHVHS Medical Staff bylaws. The surgeon will be responsible for primary and back-up call as part of a physician team, employed by Orange Regional Medical Group, an affiliate of Orange Regional Medical Center. ORMC is a 383 bed facility preparing for Level II trauma designation by the ACS-COT and NYS DOH, with our state of the art Emergency Department, SICU and OR suites ready to accept the most critical patients at a moment’s notice. The surgeon will cover all aspects of patient care from the out-patient arena, in-patient units including SICU management, and peri-operative services. As part of the trauma call team the surgeon will be required to participate in trauma performance improvement as directed by the Trauma Medical Director.



    (Essential Functions of Position)

    The Trauma Surgeon is accountable to the Medical Director, Trauma Program for providing trauma and acute surgery coverage consistent with the standards of care of ORMC. This includes providing 1st-call trauma coverage 7 days per month and 2nd-call trauma coverage up to 14 days per month.


    Minimum Education:

    M.D. or D.O. degree from an accredited school of medicine or osteopathy.

    Minimum Experience:

    5 years of surgical experience.

    Required Certification/Registration:

    NY State Medical License

    Board Certification: Surgery

    Board Certification/Board Eligibility Trauma/Surgical Critical Care preferred

    Updated ACLS certification is required. Updated BLS certification is optional but recommended

    ATLS certification preferred and will be required within one year of hire

    PALS certification preferred

    Prolonged standing
