    Greater Hudson Valley Health System (GHVHS) is a nonprofit corporation located in Middletown, NY, and is the parent company for Orange Regional and Catskill Regional Medical Centers. It provides specialty services and medical programs to nearly 450,000 residents in the mid-Hudson and Catskill region and has 3,300 employed professionals and over 850 medical staff members. It is one of the largest health care providers in the area, with three hospital campuses and several outpatient facilities. Orange Regional Medical Group (ORMG) and Catskill Regional Medical Group (CRMG) are new and growing multi-specialty, hospital-supported group medical practices with Board-certified Doctors, Board-certified Nurse Practitioners and Board-certified Advanced Practice Professionals providing outpatient and inpatient care servicing Orange, Sullivan, Ulster Counties and beyond.     Orange Regional Medical Center has begun construction on an exciting new 153,000 square foot, five-story physician office building and a 26,000 square foot, single-story cancer center at the hospital’s main campus. When completed in the fall of 2016, the $99 million project will help relocate many outpatient services currently provided at other off-campus locations into new, state-of-the-art buildings on the existing 73-acre hospital campus in Middletown. Both new buildings will be patient-centered healing environments incorporating all the latest technology and amenities for patients and families.

    Responsibilities

    This position reports to the Medical Director of the Department of Psychiatry and works under a collaborative agreement with a psychiatrist. The Nurse Practitioner will provide patient evaluation and treatment in inpatient and ambulatory settings, including consultation services; assume a leadership role with multidisciplinary treatment team members; oversee clinical care of patients assigned to team; ensure appropriate documentation of care; provide on call and weekend coverage as needed and when scheduled. Perform history and physical examinations as required.

    Qualifications

    Minimum Education:

    Masters in Nursing

    Post Masters Certificate – Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner

    Minimum Experience:

    Minimum of 1 year post-masters degree in a psychiatric setting with emphasis on care of patients with serious and persistent mental illness.

    Required Certification/Registration:

    NYS Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner License – Psychiatry

    Certification for Prescriptive Privileges (DEA)

    ANCC Board Certification in Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing within 120 days of hire

    Physical Requirements:

    Mobility required.

    Occasional lifts, positions, restrains, pushes and/or transfers patients.

    Occasional reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching.

    Working Conditions:

    Works in behavioral health, medical/surgical and ambulatory areas. Primarily evening shift but hours may vary depending upon need. Contact with patients and families. Noise level is usually moderate. Subject to exposure to blood borne pathogens, dust, fumes, odors, mists, gasses, biological, mechanical, electrical, chemical and other hazardous materials. Expected to adhere to the Hospital’s Drug and Smoke Free work environment and to adhere to OSHA mandates and precautionary measures.
