    Responsibilities

    Licensed Practical Nurses work to promote health, prevent disease, and help patients cope with illness. They are advocates and health educators for patients, families, and communities. When providing direct patient care, they record symptoms, reactions, and progress; assist physicians during treatments and examinations; administer medications; and assist in convalescence and rehabilitation.

    Qualifications

    Education/Experience:
    l. Currently licensed and registered in New York State to practice as a practical nurse.
    2. Diploma from an accredited school of practical nursing.
    3. Successful completion of BLS Provider C High School Degree. License to Practice in NYS.

    Training or experience in nursing skills. Must have good communication skills to assist with patients and physicians. Office nurses care for outpatients in all CRMC physicians’ offices. They prepare patients for and assist with examinations as above mentioned, administer injections and medications, dress wounds and incisions, assist with minor surgery, and maintain records. Some also perform routine laboratory and office work. Assist Physician in scripts, triaging orders per physician, completing and documenting all paperwork for the Patient Medical Records, will complete all JACHO required forms, will complete and maintain all CRMC forms that concern patient care, to include all patient summary, JACHO, Chart Audit requirements, National Patient Safety Goals. In addition, all else deemed necessary to adhere to CRMC Policy or Administrative delegation.

    Physical Demands: Position will primarily be light work requiring lifting up to 25 pounds with occasional lifting and/or carrying objects weighing up to 25 pounds. Occasional bending, twisting, stooping, kneeling and reaching are required. Requires 80% sitting and 20% standing or walking. Expressing or exchanging ideas by spoken word is required.

    Working Environment: May have occasional exposure to blood, body substances, infectious materials, chemical hazards, vibration, radiation, slippery surfaces, or noise that may result from performance of duties.

    Degree of Supervision Required Minimal: Must be able to work independently.
