    The CMIO provides physician leadership to matters of Clinical Informatics across Orange Regional, Catskill Regional, and Callicoon hospitals. Works to integrate services within Clinical Informatics to maximize efficiency and quality. Works collaboratively with physicians, nurses and other clinical staff and leadership to develop and further the vision and strategy of GHVHS. Communicates clear expectations of results and assists with the resolution of complex issues and problems.

    The CMIO is integral to the optimization and maintenance of GHVHS Epic Electronic Health Record (EHR) and clinical information systems. Serves as a liaison to the Medical Staff and works toward the development, implementation and support of clinical information systems related to the delivery of patient care. Participates in the development of system design, process design and training, and also participates in ongoing quality assurance for all health information related data and processes.

    The CMIO is a lead provider informaticist, and acts as an Epic tutor in informatics best practices. Instills a practice of analytics and metrics driven change, monitoring, and technology related strategic planning.
    Requires the ability to provide direction, communicate, plan and set priorities with leadership and management staff at all levels.

    As an expert advisor to the clinical application teams, this person helps GHVHS use of applications to improve care processes. Analyzes customer needs, create clinical and business workflows, develop strategies tailored to the units of care.


    Minimum Education, Training, and Experience Required

    MD or DO degree. Board certification in Clinical Informatics preferred. Fellowship completion, Master’s or PhD in clinical, medical, or biomedical informatics preferred.

    History of clinical practice for at least 5 years after completing residency. Three years’ experience in clinical systems implementation and process redesign and knowledge of clinical work flow in inpatient settings. Extensive knowledge of electronic health records technology in a hospital setting. Experience using Epic is preferred.
